Dr. Azra Raza will join the IMI NY 2026 Gala for a special literary reflection exploring poetry, language, meaning, and the enduring power of words to move hearts, awaken purpose, and bring communities together.
Born in Pakistan and based in New York, Dr. Raza is an internationally respected author, speaker, and celebrated Columbia University oncologist whose work and public voice bridge scholarship, storytelling, art, literature, and human experience. She is the author of The First Cell and co-author of GHALIB: Epistemologies of Elegance, a work exploring the writings of the legendary Urdu poet Ghalib.

IMI New York is pleased to welcome Ali Haider for a special evening finale at the IMI NY Annual Gala Dinner 2026.
A renowned vocalist, Ali Haider will perform qawwali and manqabat to bring a soulful close to an evening dedicated to poetry, purpose, philanthropy, humanitarian service, and support for the IMI University Medical Complex.
This powerful segment brings together humanitarian workers with on-the-ground experience in Pakistan and Gaza, alongside digital storytellers, for a meaningful conversation on service, witness, and responsibility.
Through selected visuals and personal reflections, speakers will share what they have seen, what they have learned, and what it means to carry these stories forward with dignity and care. The conversation will explore how real stories from humanitarian settings can build authentic connection, deepen understanding, and inspire meaningful action.
Rather than simply viewing crisis through a screen, this segment invites the audience to consider what responsible witness requires: compassion, humility, truthfulness, and a commitment to transform awareness into service.
A special segment on the vision and progress of the University Medical Complex to share the story and inspire impact.

Firstly, thank you all for a wonderful conference in Barbados. The educational content and speakers were excellent and in addition the opportunity for networking was a great bonus. Your hard work and its success was very evident.
If InshAllah, I secure a residency in the upcoming match, I will owe the organizers and the speakers at the seminar more than they will take credit for.
IMI has been my outlet for philanthropic work since before I entered into high school. It is through IMI that I see my efforts, here in New Jersey, manifest into something much greater around the world. IMI has helped me realize that ambition alone is not enough to change the world; in order to achieve the changes we wish to see in this world we require ambition, vision, and most importantly execution. That is why I have joined IMI, so that my ambition and vision can meet their execution.
We just wanted to drop you a few lines to say that, myself and Mohammed, had a wonderful time in Orlando. The Hotel was excellent, the flow of the meetings, seminars and speakers was terrific (even for a layman like myself), and the warmth and hospitality of all was moving. Networking opportunities for young and the veterans were available at all times. All the presenters and the speakers were great. The special speakers, the Governor from Georgia and Mehdi Hassan were outstanding, and the dining arrangements were excellent. I have to get the chefs name...to all the people who were involved...thank you so much for all your hard work and dedication
