Imamia Medics International is spearheading this flagship project with long-term global implications for our worldwide community - The University Medical Complex, located in Gulistan-e-Johar on University Road. Its a three - step project
Further efforts done for the requirements that need to be met.
Over the period of last ten years, IMI core members visited many different countries to establish an International Institute for emerging global Medical Professional needs. After critical review, the collective decision was to initiate this project from Pakistan. The idea is to develop a regional hub of excellence for the entire Asian region with branches & affliations in Asia/ Middle East.
Pakistan is the 2nd largest country in the world with a Muslim population, and a significant Shia population. It is an Islamic country striving for development which also has great potential in the field of medicine.
This international project will have far-reaching regional implications, and will go a long way in developing Pakistan into a regional hub for “Travel Medicine” Envisioned as a center of excellence, it aims to attract patients from Asia and beyond, offering world-class medical services at a more affordable rate compared to Western counterparts.
Karachi, the largest city in Pakistan and home to over 6 million Shia Muslims, is facing a significant challenge in accessing quality medical care. Despite being the 12th most populous city in the world with a population of over 17 million, the number of quality hospitals in the city remains low, making it difficult for residents to access necessary medical facilities.
To ensure the project is managed and overseen with proficiency, the UMC board decided to hire a competent Engineering Project Director whose sole responsibility to be the following:
The requisition for the post of the Technical Project Director was placed in most renowned newspapers and recruitment websites. After interviewing several candidates, the board has finalized this key position. With the hiring of Engineering Project Director (EPD) we intend to move forward towards the next phase of submitting a request for tender towards the ground breaking. With this step we will enter Phase 1 of the project, wherein we will move towards the construction of the complex (2 underground and two floors).
After releasing ads on local platforms & thorough search leading to crucial interview process, UMC Core Committee has appointed Hanee Murtaza Architects as the Technical Partner for the project.
The Foundation Stone Laying Ceremony of this esteemed project was held on Saturday, 17th December 2022 at project site in Gulistan-e-Johar Karachi and was attended by numerous supporters and honored dignitaries. Highlights of the event are included in the video above.
This UMC Project event also received much coverage through a range of media. Highlights of this spotlight on the UMC Groundbreaking can be viewed in this video:
The vision behind UMC is to become a Center of Excellence in Specialized Healthcare in Pakistan with affordable healthcare for all communities regardless of faith backgrounds, race, ethnicity--serving humanity and saving lives together.
Imamia Medics International has long envisioned the establishment of a project like UMC. With over 80 current projects and IMI's presence in 25 different countries, including Iraq, Iran, Yemen, Syria, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Burkino Faso, South Africa, Oman, India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Gulf countries, EU ( Germany, Austria, Holland, Ireland, Norway Switzerland,) also Australia and NewZealand, North America, IMI is actively working to provide free or low-cost health services to some of the world's poorest communities.
In addition to providing quality, affordable healthcare to the population, this hospital will be integrated with other similar hospitals in the Islamic world and the world at large.
One of IMI's key concerns is the growing trend of our community's students traveling to far-off destinations such as the Caribbean, China, or Eastern Europe for further medical education. This is a tremendous drain of our resources, which can also be addressed through this venture. As a solution, IMI is developing this Medical and Dental College, which will eventually transform into a full-fledged Medical University (Sadiq International University or SIU). Globally, we aim to offer our students an advanced, integrated, competitive, yet affordable medical education.
IMI's UMC project is a grand vision of GLOBAL OUTREACH & ASPIRATIONS. This sprawling complex is poised to be linked with some of the world's most prestigious universities and renowned hospitals, with an exceptional international faculty at the helm.
At UMC, our mission is to provide accessible, high-quality healthcare to the people of Pakistan, regardless of their socio-economic status. We are dedicated to creating a state-of-the-art medical complex that fosters innovation, compassion, and excellence in patient care. Through collaborative efforts and unwavering commitment, we aim to improve the health and well-being of our masses, ensuring that every individual receives the medical attention they deserve.
IMI has partnered with two reputable non-profits also working in Pakistan to ensure that together we can improve affordable access to quality healthcare in the country: the Zaidi Abidi Foundation and the Baqar Health & Education Welfare Trust.
The “Zaidi Abid Foundation” (ZAF): working for last 30 years and offering incredible support and resources including 2 large pieces of prime lands for the hospital in Gulistan-e-Johar.
‘Baqar Health and Education Welfare Trust’ (BET): working for last 20 years & offering unfaltering support to this noble cause of affordable hospital.
