Key Participation Details

This year’s Annual Arbaeen Medical Mission will take place from July 25–August 7 in Iraq with the priority of safely providing khidmat for the zawaar of our Imam through the medical mission. It will be an intense mission, with increased risks this year, and our plans have accordingly been modified from previous years, both in terms of service and logistics.

Mission Dates & Travel

Delegates should plan for July 25 arrivals and August 7 departures only. The specific flight schedule and travel instructions will be shared with confirmed delegates.

Delegation Size

The international delegation for this year will be limited to approximately 45–48 delegates.

Category Limits

There are limits on how many team members can be accepted in each category, including pharmacy, dental, dermatology, administration, and other service areas.

Rolling Review

Categories will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis and then closed once capacity is reached.

Ground Package

$450

14-Day Ground Package

The only ground package available for the team this year is a budget package of $450.

This package includes hotel stay in Najaf at Qasr Dur and shared accommodations in Karbala. Karbala accommodations will be arranged by gender, with multiple people, approximately 6–10, in each room.

The Karbala accommodations will be at a distance from the tentative clinic site. A shuttle is expected to bring delegates to Bab Baghdad, followed by a short walk to the clinic.

If a hotel package becomes available later, IMI will share the details and additional cost with delegates already confirmed in the budget package. However, an additional hotel package is not guaranteed this year.

Expected Costs

As in past missions, IMI has worked to arrange group logistics and subsidized ground packages for confirmed AAMM18 delegates. All Arbaeen ground packages are subsidized by IMI and are lower than the actual cost.

International Airfare

Includes air tickets and any hotels or additional stops on the way into or out of Iraq.

Visa

Estimated at $120–$160 USD.

Ground Package

Budget 14-day package: $450.

Insurance

Travel insurance, if the delegate chooses to purchase it.

Personal Expenses

Basic funds for personal expenses, food outside group arrangements, or shopping.

Optional Donation

Any additional donation a delegate wishes to contribute toward serving the zawaar of Imam Hussain (AS).

Application Process

The application process for IMI’s 18th Annual Arbaeen Medical Mission will take place in stages.

Stage 1: Initial Application

Complete the online application form

The form will ask for basic contact information, health history, and professional background. Applicants will also need to upload a copy of their resume or CV.

Stage 2: Committee Conversation

Speak with the mission committee

After receiving the application, designated members of IMI’s Annual Arbaeen Medical Mission Committee may contact applicants to discuss the application, mission expectations, and next steps.

This conversation helps ensure that applicants understand the nature of the mission, the service environment, and the requirements for participation.

Stage 3: Documentation and Confirmation

Submit required documents and confirm participation

After provisional acceptance, applicants will be required to submit additional documentation and complete confirmation steps within a short time frame.

This may include a valid passport copy, digital passport-style photo, additional travel or identification information, ground package payment, and any other documents requested by the committee.

Passports should be valid until at least February 7, 2027.

Apply early: Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis. Applying early is strongly encouraged because delegation space and category availability are limited.

Important Expectations

The situation on the ground can change quickly. All delegates must be patient, flexible, cooperative, and ready to work in intense and challenging conditions.

All delegates must strictly follow IMI guidelines, including safety, security, infection prevention, professional conduct, delegation protocols, and on-ground instructions.

Delegates should also understand that participation is a service commitment. The mission requires teamwork, discipline, respect for local partners, and a sincere commitment to serving the zawaar of Imam Hussain (AS).

Cancellations and Refund Policy

IMI is continually monitoring the situation and assessing the security climate for medical mission delegates.

Please review carefully: The $450 ground package payment is otherwise non-refundable. However, if IMI cancels international participation in the 18th Annual Arbaeen Medical Mission, the $450 payment will be refunded.

Support the Mission

Those who are unable to join the delegation can still support this important work.

Donations help IMI provide free medications, medical supplies, equipment, emergency support, and patient care for the zawaar of Imam Hussain (AS).

  • If InshAllah, I secure a residency in the upcoming match, I will owe the organizers and the speakers at the seminar more than they will take credit for.

  • IMI has been my outlet for philanthropic work since before I entered into high school. It is through IMI that I see my efforts, here in New Jersey, manifest into something much greater around the world. IMI has helped me realize that ambition alone is not enough to change the world; in order to achieve the changes we wish to see in this world we require ambition, vision, and most importantly execution. That is why I have joined IMI, so that my ambition and vision can meet their execution.

  • We just wanted to drop you a few lines to say that, myself and Mohammed, had a wonderful time in Orlando. The Hotel was excellent, the flow of the meetings, seminars and speakers was terrific (even for a layman like myself), and the warmth and hospitality of all was moving. Networking opportunities for young and the veterans were available at all times. All the presenters and the speakers were great. The special speakers, the Governor from Georgia and Mehdi Hassan were outstanding, and the dining arrangements were excellent. I have to get the chefs name...to all the people who were involved...thank you so much for all your hard work and dedication
