In 2023, for our 15th Annual Arbaeen Medical Mission, nearly 50,000 patients received general medical, specialty, dental, eye, and emergency assistance through IMI's camp located steps from Maqaam Imam-e-Zamana. The 15th Annual Arbaeen Medical Mission saved patients an estimated $5 million USD with specialty services also available including Anesthesiology, Cardiology, Critical Care, Dentistry, Dermatology, Emergency Medicine, Family Medicine, Gastroenterology, Nursing, Obstetrics & Gynecology, Oncology, Orthopedics & Trauma, Optometry, Pain Management, Pharmacy, Surgery and Urology.
IMI experts trained more than 350 Ataba staff (of the Holy Shrines), colleagues, young professionals and students of medicine, nursing, dentistry, and pharmacy through IMI Certification courses Basic CPR, BLS, ACLS, PALS, and Mass Casualty Incident Management at IMI’s 5th Annual Arbaeen Conference, educational lectures and trainings at conferences and many institutions ranging from Kufa Medical School, Kufa "German" Teaching Hospital, Najaf Cardiac Care Center and Ataba Abbasiya Conference Hall in Karbala.
Since 2010, IMI has been coordinating medical missions to Iraq for Arbaeen. Over the last 15 Arbaeens, IMI has had the honor of coordinating medical missions during Arbaeen in Iraq. The initial Arbaeen Medical Mission involved one medical camp in Karbala in Babul Qibla with a 9-member international team and countless translators and local volunteers. Approximately 4000 pilgrims were provided care through this initiative in the first year and, cumulatively since then we have served more than 650,000 pilgrims through the Annual Medical Mission.
A core part of IMI's work includes education and IMI's Annual Arbaeen Medical Mission incorporates this through engaging students as well as for the last several years a dedicated Annual Arbaeen Conference that provides certification in BLS, ACLS, PALS, disaster medicine and sessions on a range of topics such as wound care and AI in healthcare.
