IMI’s Mega Event was its largest online global event which was viewed by over 500,000 live viewers. It highlighted IMI’s current special projects and welcomed the new board members of chapters across the world. Below are the highlights from the event:
HI. Maulana Syed Muhammad Rizvi who is the Resident Scholar of the Jaffari Community Center of ISIJ in Toronto, Canada.
Ayatollah Mohaghegh Damad achieved the degree of Ijtihad (Ayatullah) in 1970. He is a graduate with a B.A. in Islamic Philosophy (1969) and his M.A. in Islamic Jurisprudence (1980). Later, he received his Ph.D. in Law (Doctorat en Droit) at the Catholic University of Louvain-la-Neuve in 1996. He is the author of 27 published books and more than 50 academic journal articles.
His father was prominent Shia Marja' and his grandfather, Abdul-Karim Ha'eri Yazdi, was founder of Qom seminary.
A special presentation was made by IHI to apprise the community of the progress and details of IMI’s Dream Project.
IMI’s new Medical Chaplaincy Wing was introduced to the community by Brother Syed Safi Haider Abidi. He is currently studying traditional hawza studies with Ayatullah Sayed Hossein Saberi. Syed has completed a Bachelors of Arts from William Paterson University and a Masters in Religious Studies from Hartford Seminary. He is a doctorate of ministry student at New York Presbytarian Seminary. He, alongside Sayyid Sameer Ali will be coordinating IMI's Medical Chaplaincy Wing.
Dr Sarfaraz Hasni delivered a touching tribute to the late Dr Nusrat Naqvi and announced of an IMI Scholarship in Dr Naqvi's name.
Dr. Shabih Zaidi who is the Chancellor of Sadiq International University presented on the progress of SIU and the details of the project.
Dr Larijani is the Founding President and Chief Scientific Officer Endocrine Metabolic Research Institute & Professor of Medicine at TUMS (Tehran University of Medical Sciences). He was named the Google Scholar for 2019. Dr Larijani is the Deputy-Chair of the National Supreme Committee for Prevention and Control of Non-communicable Diseases in Iran.
This clinic and ambulance service was established in January 2020 and has served more than 8000 patients so far. Ms. Shifa Abbas apprised the community of the details and progress of the project.
The Chakwal Project was presented by Col. Tabassum Kazmi who served in the Pakistan Army for almost 30 years and has been awarded Sitara-i-Imtiaz Military by Government of Pakistan for his meritorious services. Below he presented on the plans for IMI and Aziz Imdad Memorial Trusts' joint project- Al-Zehra Medical Complex.
Dr. Quyyumi presented on the developments related to the IMI Academic Council along with Sadiq International University and Journal of Medics International.
Dr Ashraf Moini is a Professor from Tehran University of Medical Sciences.
Dr Ashraf’s current research is held within the Department of Endocrinology and Female Infertility. She also serves as the Head of the OBGYN Clinic of Roeen Tan Arash Hospital in Tehran.
Dr. Aqeel Khan Along with Dr. Agha Sagar Razvi announced Zahra Memorial Clinic which will provide medical services to the poor and underserved, uninsured and underinsured people of all backgrounds regardless of their religious affiliation.
Dr. Ali, President of IMI New Zealand talked about the formation of the New Zealand Chapter and plans for IMI's 11th International Conference in New Zealand in 2021.
Mr. Ashar Zaidi ITN, will serve as a powerful platform for the diverse talents in our community to intermingle, share ideas and interact effectively with global audience.
Dr Iftekhar Badar is currently the Director of the Pulmonary Rehabilitation Center at Ascension All saints Medical Center. He serves as the coordinator for GetWell Clinic, Hyderabad.
IMI's fantastic project-Promoting Medical Tourism in Pakistan was presented by Dr. Yawar Abbas. IMI's Nagar Chapter is based in the Mountains of Karakoram, bordering China.
