IMI Ireland was officially launched on December 6, 2009. With its membership and presence continuing to expand, IMI Ireland's first project was to develop a rotation of doctors to appear live on Hidayat TV each weekend to answer viewers health related questions.
With respect to medical services, IMI Ireland has conducted clinics in different specialties including Paediatrics, Family Medicine, Gynaecology, and Pain Management. In addition, IMI Ireland members have collected and donated a huge number of theatre equipments, endoscopy monitors, anaesthetic machines, ventilators, gloves, catheters, syringes and other medical supplies and equipment.
IMI Ireland also advances health education, not only through international delegation participation but locally, by providing guidance and support to doctors and paramedics from overseas. IMI Ireland has been instrumental in helping some secure positions and clinical attachments for many foreign medical graduates, such as the attachment for Dr. Muthanna from Iraq.
The chapter’s official formation could not have been possible without Dr. Qasim Jaffry who has been invaluable in laying the foundation for IMI Ireland and his continuing work for the IMI Iraq Initiative. He met with numerous authorities and colleagues, and coordinated the official launch of IMI Ireland. Appropriately, IMI Ireland was headed by Dr. Qasim Jaffry for its first two years, and steered by a 10 member Board of Directors. Details for IMI Ireland Board of Directors are listed below.
