Academic Council

IMI Academic Council ensures the highest level of excellence in academic and health education for all IMI members. The Council maintains its reputation of excellence through our diverse global faculty from leading institutions and health agencies.

About the Council:

  • Provides courses through webinars and online universities.
  • Convenes Continuing Medical Education events including IMI’s International Conferences.
  • Manages the Global Speakers’ Bureau comprised of academics.
  • Fosters relationships with academic institutions and accrediting bodies.
  • Serves as a placement resource for trainee in research and academia.
  • Published newsletters for both the public and healthcare professionals.
  • Develops guidelines to advance, inculcate and promote medical & health education.
  • Explores the intersection between medical ethics and society.
  • Nurtures original research and develops works combining Authentic Islamic text with modern day research.

A History of Excellence

Since our formation in the early 90’s, Imamia Medics International (IMI) has provided professional development services as a core of our function globally. Opportunities for new and emerging professionals include mentorship, career guidance events, rotation placement support and a platform to network with peers and senior colleagues. Likewise, for established professionals, IMI continues to serve as a global network and hosts events with Continuing Medical Education accreditation to enhance physician’s understanding of current medical developments.

IMI’s capacity building work globally has expanded to include trainings for midwives, nurses, and health workers broadly, as identified by local needs.

IMI International Conferences

IMI’s Academic Council oversees the development of the academic program for all IMI International Conferences and serves as a global academic resource for national and regional conferences. IMI's 12th International Conference: the OMAN Conference (Outstanding Medical Advancement & Networking) will be held as in-person meeting on Thursday December 25th to December 27th, at the Sheraton Oman Hotel in Muscat, Oman, followed by optional sightseeing segment from December 28-30, 2025. Pre-conference workshops will be held on December 24, 2025. The conference will cover all aspects of medicine and allied specialties including dentistry, nursing, pharmacy and others with continuing education credits available for physicians, nurses, pharmacists and dentists.

The conference also includes many special events, including a special Gala Dinner, and parallel sessions for the Women’s Wing, Technology Innovations, and young professionals and students. It will attract attendees from civil society and health policy organizations, as well as government officials, health professionals, medical researchers, intellectuals, and scholars. A special 3-night Omani excursion (28-30 December) is also being planned after the conference for attendees and their guests. The conference has been designed to engage all; we encourage you to attend with your family.
