Water is undeniably one of life's most precious gifts, bestowed upon us by the mercy of Allah (swt). Yet, for millions around the world, access to clean water remains a distant dream, marred by the harsh realities of poverty and neglect. As Ramadan approaches, our hearts are drawn to the plight of those who suffer, and it is in this sacred time that we are called upon to extend our hands in compassion and service.
In the spirit of giving, Imamia Medics International (IMI) has been at the forefront of transforming lives through the establishment of clean drinking water projects around the world including in Pakistan, India and the West African country of Burkina Faso. Guided by the principles of empathy and solidarity, IMI's initiatives have not only provided vital access to clean water but have also catalyzed better health, sustainable development and empowerment within communities. Indeed as this year's United Nations World Water Day 2024 theme "Water for Peace" emphasizes, water can create peace or spark conflict. (Click here for a brief UN Water factsheet on Water for Peace.)
In Burkina Faso, IMI's water projects have brought hope to rural villages, where access to clean water was once a distant dream. Through the construction of wells and water purification systems, IMI has not only quenched the physical thirst of communities but has also nourished their spirits, instilling a sense of dignity and self-reliance.
Similarly, in India and Pakistan, IMI's water projects have been instrumental in addressing the pervasive water crisis that plagues urban and rural areas alike. From installing water filtration systems in schools to drilling boreholes in Khairpur and Rahim Yaar Khan villages, IMI has worked tirelessly to ensure that no child goes to bed thirsty and no family is forced to drink contaminated water.
The impact of IMI's water projects extends far beyond the provision of clean water. By empowering communities with access to this basic necessity, IMI has unlocked a ripple effect of positive change, paving the way for improved health, education, and economic opportunities.
During the blessed month of Ramadan, let us heed the call to action and support organizations like IMI in their noble endeavors. By contributing to water projects, we not only fulfill our moral obligation to serve humanity but also embody the spirit of compassion and solidarity that defines this sacred month.
Together, we can transform lives and communities, one drop at a time. Let us remember the words of the Prophet Muhammad (saw), who declared, "Which charity is best? Providing water." In supporting IMI's water projects, we honor the legacy of the Prophet and fulfill our duty to our fellow human beings.
As we strive to emulate the compassion of the Prophet during Ramadan, let us extend our hands in generosity and make a tangible difference in the lives of those in need. Join us in supporting IMI's water projects and be a beacon of hope for communities around the world. Together, we can quench the thirst of the needy and pave the way for a brighter, more prosperous future for all.

The Medics International Dental Wing which was initiated more than a decade ago, formally started its activities in 2016 in the form of Dental School Outreach Programs, which aimed at improving the oral hygiene of the youth. This program, which started with 11 volunteers and a limited target population, now includes hundreds of volunteers and has covered far and wide areas of Karachi including various schools and madressahs in the peripheral areas of the city. The activity is also conducted during religious processions and focuses on conveying oral health message to the community and guiding them about dental treatment. Similar camps have been conducted in other cities of Pakistan such as Lahore, Islamabad and other regions of the world including the US and India. The same philosophy also applies when the Dental Wing reaches out to the zaireen in Iraq every year on the occassion of Arbaeen, providing them free consultations and dental treatment in the holy cities, Najaf and Karbala. Volunteers from the Medics International Dental Wing also had the opportunity to serve the public in a newly established polyclinic running under the management of the Holy shrine of Imam Ali in Najaf. This was back in March 2019. Dental Wing members from the organisation also participate in Hajj Medical Mission, providing free dental consultations to the Hujjaj in Medinah, Mecca, Arafaat and Mina.
The patient welfare services provided by Dental Wing continues throughout the year in the form of dental clinics established in Pakistan and India.
Furthermore, the volunteers work persistently for the education of dental students and professionals. Dental Wing provides platform to these people in the form of academic sessions and workshops to refine clinical skills. These academic sessions include dental classrooms, dental journal clubs, research sessions, case presentations and career guidance sessions which are attended by international participants as well.
One of our aims is to encourage more people to join us in our activities. This is fulfilled via IMI Dental Newswire which is a digital platform where the dental community has an opportunity to know about us and also share their knowledge with readers.
The wing is well structured and has ambassadors and mentors who play a pivotal role in fulfilling the academic and professional needs of the members. Since the Wing is itself part of a progressive organisation, we strive for future plans and improvement.

Imamia Medics International (IMI) has garnered global recognition for its unwavering commitment to serving humanity for over three decades. Recognizing the importance of faith-based collaboration alongside humanitarian endeavors, IMI has embarked on numerous developmental projects spanning across eighteen countries. One such collaboration with esteemed religious scholars has led to impactful initiatives aimed at bridging communities, fostering love, and delivering essential services to those in need. IMI has joined forces with Maulana Syed Aftab Haider, a prominent religious scholar in South Africa, to bring much-needed medical services to undeserved communities. This collaboration embodies the shared values of serving humanity and promoting compassion, regardless of faith or background.
Maulana Aftab Haider, known for his religious and cultural initiatives, has long recognized the lack of access to quality healthcare in certain parts of South Africa. Partnering with IMI, he has spearheaded the establishment of two clinics: the “Babul Ilm Clinic” in Cape Town and another “Get Well” clinic in the city of Kuruman, a poverty-stricken area in South Africa. Through philanthropic efforts, these clinics have been constructed to address pressing health challenges such as vaccination, AIDS, tuberculosis, and other related diseases. Additionally, essential services like water security and mosque projects are integral parts of the initiative, further enriching the lives of community members. Beyond just medical treatment, the clinics aim to foster community engagement and provide religious guidance. This holistic approach addresses not only physical needs but also spiritual well-being.
While the clinics are already operational and the achievements are commendable, sustaining them requires ongoing financial support. The limited resources of the local community necessitate assistance from generous individuals and organizations.
The holy month of Ramadan presents a unique opportunity to multiply the rewards of your good deeds. Contributing to this noble cause not only provides essential healthcare services but also promotes interfaith understanding and strengthens communities. There is an earnest appeal for donations to ensure the seamless operation and expansion of vital services provided by IMI and its partners. Every contribution, no matter how small, holds the potential to make a significant difference in the lives of those in need.
