We are Imamia Medics International.
At our core, we are a group of people from around the world who have pledged our time and resources to empowering disadvantaged communities world-wide with access to quality healthcare and education.
A registered 501(c)(3) non-profit in the US, IMI also holds Special Consultative Status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council and accreditation by the United Nations Department of Public Information.
We are funded by members and people like you. Our beneficiaries include individuals from all backgrounds without regard to religious affiliation (or lack thereof).
Imamia Medics International (IMI) provides a global platform for Shi’a Muslim health & science professionals for career development as well as the opportunity to offer health education and services to underserved populations globally.
IMI’s inspiration is derived from the Quranic verse "...And whoso saveth the life of one, it shall be as if he had saved the life of mankind..."(Qu'ran 5:32).
This verse lies at the core of who we are and what we do. Based on this verse, the founders’ vision for IMI has been to bring together the intellectual and professional resources of the Shia Muslim community to serve humanity. Simply put, we believe in alleviating suffering and saving lives.
We do this by direct medical services on an ongoing and emergency basis as well as through the empowerment of health professionals globally. So, while we provide medical assistance through clinics or international delegations, we also work simultaneously to train health professionals and students to build local capacity and promote local self sufficiency. The more qualified, quality healthcare providers we can empower locally, the more lives we can all save together.
An important point about who we are and the vision of IMI since our inception is recognizing that though IMI’s membership is comprised of Shia Muslims, our services are designed to fulfill our vision of saving lives and serving humanity. Our beneficiaries include individuals from all backgrounds without regard to religious affiliation (or lack thereof)
