Imamia Medics International (IMI) provides professional development through a variety of means as well as capacity building activities to assist health systems internationally.
IMI assists hundreds of medical students with residency guidance, observerships, rotations and internships. In person seminars as well as online webinars are regularly conducted to ensure a wide dissemination of career guidance. IMI also provides some financial assistance in the form of scholarships to medical students and young medical professionals. IMI’s internship program also provides students/young professionals valuable experience in working with an international NGO.

IMI has held many national and 9 international conferences worldwide with participation from over 26 countries to date. IMI has organized 11 Category 1 CME Conferences approved by the American Association of Continuing Medical Education (US), one accredited by the Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh, and one accredited by the Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons of Canada.
Symposia and one-day conference are regularly organized in the US for a range of health professionals such as Innovations in Healthcare in April 2013 that brought together physicians, researchers, diabetes educators, nurses, pharmacists, lab technicians and many disciplines to cater to IMI US’s diverse needs.
IMI hosts conferences internationally to share advances in health such as the Bringing Global Health Home: IMI Iraq Women & Newborn Conference in April 2014. IMI also sends delegations and host sessions at many conferences including Addressing Diabetes to Achieve the MDGs at the United Nations Annual Conferenceon Global Health in Australia.

IMI conducts international lectures, workshops and practical hands on trainings internationally to promote professional exchanges, capacity building, and knowledge sharing amongst junior and senior colleagues and international health systems. A range of topics are covered based on the needs of the locality. In addition, regular Basic Life Support /Advance Cardiac Support classes are held for health professionals, police officers, customs officials, IMI relief delegates and interested members.

The IMI Academic Council is a think tank of leading academicians in health sciences from around the globe who will advise IMI and support its long-term goals in healthcare and education. The goal of the Academic Council is to establish the highest level of excellence in academia and health education for all IMI members and the Journal of Medics International, the new, open-access, peer-reviewed official hrefjournal of Imamia Medics International.
