More than 4 millions Iraqis have been forced to abandon their homes after decades of conflict and violence. Terrorized, many fled with just the clothes on their backs and their meager financial resources have been spent during the arduous journey and they are in desperate need of aid. Internally displaced persons (IDPs) are currently living in more than 2,000 temporary settlements, as well as other accommodation (e.g. host families, rented) throughout Iraq.
IMI Iraq members continue to provide assistance as necessary. IMI’s Global Board of Regents and IMI HQ are in close contact with IMI Iraq to ensure the safety of our members as well as coordinate necessary assistance from the international body that is provided as needed.
While IMI Iraq members assist with the daily needs, over the last few years IMI has organized special international delegations for medical and dental camps at temporary shelters to internally displaced Iraqis who have fled south for safety.
