IMI Board Of Regents

IMI’s Board of Regents is the highest organizational body concerned with overseeing all IMI activities globally to ensure adherence to the IMI Constitution. The Board of Regents is comprised of 5 or more members and each member holds a term of 3 years. The Coordinator for the Board of Regents is also known as the Global President.

Asad Sadiq, DDS | USA
Global President & Coordinator-Board of Regents
IMI's 12th Global President, Dr. Asad Sadiq is a competitive Dental and Maxillofacial Surgeon with a proven track record of success in the Dental practice sector. He is a former Chair of IMI's Global Dental Wing and one of the pioneering members of IMI in North America. Over the years, he has also served on the Boards of many Muslim organizations and imambargahs.
Dr. Asad Sadiq has over 35 years of experience. Governor of NJ, Phil Murphy appointed Dr. SAdiq to the State Board of Dentistry in November 2022. He is a graduate of UMDNJ and holds memberships in the American Dental Association, The Academy of General Dentistry, and the Southern Dental Society. Dr. Sadiq also trained in implant technology at NYU. Dr. Sadiq has hosted workshops and seminars in many countries to inspire and empower dental students.

Anees Quyyumi, MD | USA
Board of Regents
Dr Anees Quyyumi graduated from Gandhi Medical College, Hyderabad, India and completed training in Medicine and Nephrology at D.C. General and Georgetown hospitals, Washington D.C. She is assistant professor of medicine at Emory University School of Medicine and practicing Nephrologist. She is also the US coordinator for Medics International.

Bader Al Mustafa, MD | Saudi Arabia

After his graduation from medical school in 1989, Dr. AlMustafa has done his postgraduate training in clinical pathology, family medicine, chronic care and hypertension in multiple institutions in KSA, UK, USA and European Union. Currently, he is a senior consultant in Family Medicine and Clinical Hypertension in Qatif Primary Health Care, KSA.
He has taken on leading responsibilities in multiple institutions. Currently, he is the General Secretary of the Saudi Hypertension Management Society, and the Middle East Regional Director of the World Hypertension League. Dr. AlMustafa has developed and adapted multiple clinical and professional guidelines, and has been engaged in multiple national and international scientific committees.
He has carried out hundreds of training, quality improvement and research projects in the management of hypertension and cardiometabolic risk. He has multiple published articles and books in the field of primary care and preventive cardiology, in particular.

Shahriar Heidary, MD | USA
Board of Regents
Dr. Shahriar Heidary completed an Echocardiography fellowship at Harvard University Medical School, Brigham & Women's Hospital after he received his general Cardiology training at the University of Southern California. After this, Dr. Heidary finished an advanced cardiac imaging fellowship in Cardiac MRI at Stanford University.
He was an Adjunct Clinical Assistant Professor at Stanford University Medical School and was part of a private practice in San Jose, California for the last 10 years.
He has a focus in preventative cardiology, cardiac imaging and general outpatient cardiology. He is thankful to be a part of IMI and wishes to contribute more to all the great work that the organization does.

Shakeela Shah, MD | USA

Dr. Shakeela Shah, MD with more than 30 years’ experience, Dr Shakeela Shah, MD, has been working as a Hospitalist at Kaiser Medical Center. Dr. Shah has wanted to be a doctor from the time when she was just a kid. Studying medicine and practicing it for decades has strengthened her conviction to do her best to provide high-quality medical care with a human touch. Family, respect, honesty, hard work, and dedication are core values that she strives to implement in her personal and professional life.
As a hospital physician specializing in internal medicine, Dr. Shah works closely with the hospital team (physician consultants, nurses, case managers, etc.) to help ensure that the care and comfort they provide patients is of a high quality. She likes to implement her core values of dedication, respect, and honesty in the work environment as well. She also likes to establish good communication between her patients, their families, and the hospital team.
Dr. Shah has been an active member of IMI, Director for IMI US and the President of IMI's Southern California Chapter. Under her leadership, IMI SoCal has held meetings and large events including a young leaders' SoCal conference and a major one day symposia for health professionals. Dr Shah has also been a speaker at IMI conferences and represented IMI as a delegate for international delegations and medical work overseas.

Mehmet Tasdemir, MD | Turkey

He is graduated from Trakya University School of Medicine in 1998. Finished his residency in Ministry of Health Sisli Etfal Education and Research Hospital for Pediatrics in 2009 Pediatric nephrology fellowship in Istanbul University Cerrahpasa School of Medicine in 2013. In October 2015, he participated in observership program in the Division of Nephrology at Boston Children’s Hospital, Harvard Medical School, USA. Faculty at Koç University Hospital since December 2015.Dr Tasdemir has represented IMI Turkey for the past 10 years.

Yasir Haider, MD | Canada
Board of Regents
Dr Syed Yasir Haider, Past President of IMI Canada and 2023 recipient of IMI's Man of the Year Award, is a Senior Orthopedic Consultant Surgeon at Markham-Stouffville Hospital in Toronto, Canada. He did his MD from King Edward Medical University in Lahore, Pakistan. After completing his orthopedic residency training at Royal London and St Bart’s in London, UK, he completed his orthopedic fellowship with the Intercollegiate Board of Royal Colleges in UK before moving to Canada.
He completed his Canadian Orthopaedic fellowship with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in 2004. He is a visiting professor at several international medical institutions including King Edward Medical University and St George’s University.
As IMI Canada’s President, Dr. Haider did a phenomenal job of engaging with IMI’s local and global efforts--from COVID-19 response to helping with humanitarian aid in Afghanistan. In 2023, while juggling his rigorous professional workload, he spearheaded an incredible IMI Canada National Conference that excelled in every area.
