The motivated community of Michigan residents got together on March 12, 2023, at Bellagio Banquet & Conference Center to raise funds for those affected by the earthquake in Turkiye & Syria. The IMI Michigan Chapter Team, led by Dr. Qambar Ali Jafri, IMI US Board of Director, and Dr. Saba Azhar, IMI Michigan Chapter Coordinator, successfully collected well-known personalities, professional specialists of varying ages, and their families to provide an informative and cohesive program.
The IMI Youth Wing of Michigan's community was actively involved in planning the event's organization and fundraising efforts. Ms. Aleena Bukhari, a member of the IMI Youth Wing, also gave a presentation on the Importance of Charity Work for the betterment of humanity.
During the Fundraiser, Dr. Wajih Rizvi, Dr. Qambar Jafri, and Dr. Saba Azhar thoroughly presented the many advocacy, educational, and humanitarian projects IMI has been involved in worldwide. It is no exaggeration to say that IMI's pre-earthquake presence in Turkey and Syria had a significant role in the organization's ability to play such a central role in the earthquake relief efforts. The National Health Ministry of Turkey and the Medizeyn & Zehra Anna Society have been invaluable partners for IMI Turkey in distributing shelter, food, medicine, and heating equipment. On the other hand, IMI Zaynab has been working closely with the Syrian charity Al-Ighathe Organization (The Poor Patients Relief Society) to distribute essentials and medical supplies like insulin & glucometers to those in need. Moreover, to meet both the short-term and long-term requirements of those affected by the earthquakes in both nations, IMI is curren tly launching several new initiatives with far-reaching effects.
IMI is working with the Turkish American Steering Committee (TASC), courtesy of its South Jersey Chapter Representative, Dr. Vedat Obuz, to develop a container town that would provide all the necessary commodities for individuals who have been displaced because of the earthquake.
IMI Global is collaborating with IMI Zaynab to provide Mobile Health Units in Syria for ongoing medical needs and future medical emergencies. A number of people will have access to timely medical care thanks to the installation of the mobile units in areas hit hard by the earthquake.
In addition to serving earthquake victims in all parts of Syria, this mobile clinic model will be used in the Haram of Shehzaadi Zaynab (sa) & Shehzaadi Sakina (sa) during Muharram & Arbaeen processions.
It was an excellent conference well planned, presented, and well attended. If individually traveling we may have never enjoyed the kind of reception the participants received throughout their stay in Iran.
I want to thank you all for giving me such a great opportunity to be a part of your team (in Haiti). It was a unique experience and I really enjoyed working with you all.
Thank you very much for the wonderful work you do. I have seen it first hand in Karbala during the Arbaeen camps and my son was fortunate to participate in two of the missions. I have made a donation today.
If InshAllah, I secure a residency in the upcoming match, I will owe the organizers and the speakers at the seminar more than they will take credit for.
IMI has been my outlet for philanthropic work since before I entered into high school. It is through IMI that I see my efforts, here in New Jersey, manifest into something much greater around the world. IMI has helped me realize that ambition alone is not enough to change the world; in order to achieve the changes we wish to see in this world we require ambition, vision, and most importantly execution. That is why I have joined IMI, so that my ambition and vision can meet their execution.
